@Great_Paul

Paul didnt say what Digimon series he was nominated, so Ill just have to talk about the ones Ive seen, which are Adventure 01, Tamers, and Savers. I didnt watch Digimon back in the day, so I dont have a whole ton of nostalgia for it. I watched them during the period where I was watching a whole ton of anime over the course of a very short period of time, so my memory isnt too strong unfortunately, but Ill give it what Ive got.

Adventure: Just a fun, solid series throughout. There were boring fillery episodes (natural for a 50 episode series), but the cast was good and the creatures were cool. Not as cool as Pokemon, naturally, but they were alright. I think I watched the Our War Game movie after watching this, which was great. A lot like Summer Wars (its from the same director) but less refined. I skipped 02 since everyone said it was terrible and went straight to

Tamers: By far the best of what I watched. Digimon Adventure felt like a pretty good series for a kids show, but Tamers was just good period. The relationships between monsters and humans get way more care and attention, and the themes and such felt more mature (in a good way) than the first series. There was a bigger overall plot, so the fillery episodes werent as much of a problem, and when they did appear they were higher quality in general, IIRC. Ruki (thats Rika for the American fans) was my favorite character. Her dealing with depression and communicating with Renamon was awesome. Having more intelligent Digimon was an excellent decision IMO.

Savers: This started out great, but was just poorly written and ended up not being as good as it could be. The concept of humans merging with Digimon and fighting themselves felt pretty badass, and Masaru (Marcus) was an awesome protagonist when he was allowed to let loose. Unfortunately the rest of the cast wasnt that great, and theres a ton of fillery episodes that are pretty samey. Its still entertaining and it never gets actually bad, but it was certainly a disappointment for being so promising. The ending was pretty great too, IIRC.

Ive occasionally considered watching Tri, since Ive heard its good. Its still ongoing, I think? Will have to consider it again once its done, maybe.
