That said, it is a suitable replacement for quite a few people who could actually bike instead of driving everywhere. Cars are still very useful for things like a weekly grocery trip, but you can save quite a bit of money by biking or walking to work/school, if your commute is less than about 10 km. It's something that a lot of people should seriously consider, rather than brushing it off as being too hard without really thinking about how it could be made to work.

Of course, if all of your neighbours are wild dogs, a bike isn't going to be a viable option, but that's fine.


Even a short trip in Arizona during the summer isn't practical on a bike.
