Moribito got localized in the U.S. during the Great Recession (i.e. at the time of the Great DVD Market Crash), but before the Age of Streaming Video, and the rights belong to Media Blasters, which has virtually no money for marketing, so ... basically a perfect storm of things setting it up to fail.
