It's that time of year when the weather gets colder and the atmosphere gets darker, when the spirits rise once again the roam the Earth, when the snake slithers out from under his den make sense of all this madness the only way he knows how: Board 8 Rankings!

The previous installments of this annual trek through terror has literally given us 100s of spine-tingling frights that made sure our rests were anything but. It's time to add to this ever-growing list of haunts yet again, to make this year even scarier than the last.

Of course, even the dead need ground rules:

1. Every user gets 5 nominations with potential for increase depending on participation.

2. Do not nominate anything from the previous two years, which can each be found here:

3. Do not worry about what is or isn't horror. My definition of horror is loose and flexible and I will let you know if I think a nomination doesn't fit.

4. I will be ranking these based on three criteria: Importance to the genre, it's fear factor, and my own personal liking of the nomination.

5. As I like to make sure these lists are as thorough as possible, I will research and experience every nomination I'm not familiar with to the best of my ability.
