The Witcher 3 is exactly that, and I have little doubt that it's the strongest non-Nintendo game of at least the past five years, probably since at least Skyrim. You have a point, which is why I think Geralt can have decent strength on his own, but I think his ceiling is Shepard because Mass Effect is (or was, R.I.P.) in the same boat.
