I mean, I honestly can't imagine what kind of heartless bastard would pick anything other than the first option.

In an ideal setting, why wouldn't you want the first option?

I love eating meat. But I also believe higher thinking animals (such as mammals) should be treated with kindness. Or at least mercy. You know what I mean?

Besides, many studies have proven than free range meats are actually better for humans to consume, so the better treatment of the animals we ultimately end up eating is beneficial to both parties involved.

Cramming a chicken into a cage the same size as its own body and pumping it full of hormones and chemicals so it can prematurely be tossed into a woodchipper and made into chicken nuggets.....is fucking heartless. And that's no exaggeration. That is literally how it is in a lot of cases.

Not only is that "meat" the lowest possible quality imaginable (because the poor bird never even got to exercise its own muscles and circulatory system), but it's even LOWER quality of life for the bird itself.

Some industries are just comprised of heartless bastards wearing fancy suits who are never on the killing floor (and often never even consume the actual product they are making) and just sit in business meetings and look at numbers. See how they can maximize profits without even taking morality into consideration.

I dunno.

America only cares about money. Morals come last.
