I figured she was cold because her 'shine' was stolen in the earlier Revue. And she never responded because she made a promise never to talk to Karen again unless both of them became stage girls, in order to motivate both of them. I mean that's kind of a stupid promise but they did explain it.

As for the rest of your thoughts, I liked the setting and characters. I also loved all the thematic symbolism in almost everything. I guess it just wasn't your type of show, but it really really was my type of show!
