It was good IN YOUR OPINION. BB20 SUCKED if you weren't rooting whole-heartedly for Level 6. Not that FOUTTE was necessarily made up entirely of GOOD players, characters, or even PEOPLE, but BB20 was extremely one-sided in favor of personalities that, while you may have enjoyed them for showcasing solid gameplay, did not bring much in terms of drama of liveliness of personality.

I've been negative a lot, and I admit that. But I'd argue that it's not just me going out of my way to be a negative nancy.

Big Brother has had the same problem for, I'd argue, the last SEVEN seasons. The show is just TOO long nowadays, and a longer season leads to dominant alliances taking control and running large swaths of the season, which in turn allows players that hang back and keep their heads down to come on strong late in the season, to disappointment among the fans. I personally enjoyed BB17, but it falls within this same framework, and it's problematic.

With Survivor, it's been a similar scenario ever since Cambodia filmed, where the producers learned that they could focus more on strategy and forcing twists into the game to get a short-term rush of adrenaline without really giving the fans the long-term story that allows them to look back on the season positively.

When I'm ultra-negative, it's more often in reaction to what I feel is undue positivity. When fans are too willing to accept a flawed season, it allows the producers to keep piling on crap over and over and over again and resulting in weaker and weaker seasons where they might try to fix what made fans less-than-happy about a specific season, while completely ignoring the underlying issues. It doesn't help that fans are fickle and can't come to a consensus about what they actually LIKE (I've said it before...the only difference between Cambodia and Game Changers is the cast, yet Cambodia received an above-average reaction, while Game Changers is outright hated.)

Meanwhile, I CAN be super positive. I LOVED the beginning of Game Changers because it wasn't until the endgame that those massive flaws really reared their ugly heads. I similarly loved HHH until the last two episodes. I liked BB20 until the jury started. Hell, I LOVE all three episodes of DvG thus far. I'm just sayin'.
