Why does every artist, like yourself, call themselves crappy? Don't you guys have anything better to do than be self depreciating?

Cause we're both in love with what we do and hate it at the same time.

Part of it is downplaying yourself so people don't have any expectations. I'm just okay, maybe better than okay some day..but it's not my main focus.

For me it's the frustration of not being to be able to execute what I have in my head. Because it's so vivid, and when it comes to paper it's not what I pictured.

I don't know if it's self depreciating or ambivalence.

I don't think it's just artists, I'm a cook at a nice restaurant and everyone I work with says the place is "just ok, nothing special" but in reality we have won numerous awards including best fine dining, best italian food, best family owned business, and a few more every single year (except last year when our head chef died) for over 20 years now. So I think most people think their work is worse than it actually is.
