Mainly because I've been listening to a lot of artists that are bilingual; Dreams Come True, the brilliant green, VAMPS, Crystal Kay, etc. A lot of them have not only done songs in full English, but also English versions of a Japanese song, and they're very hit-or-miss. From what I've seen the best versions are the ones that don't try to go for a direct translation and just keep the spirit of the lyrics. (That's actually how I feel about anime dubs as well.)
