For example the best selling PS2 games are Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Gran Turismo 3 by a pretty sizeable margin, but I don't think anybody is going to claim that those are the "biggest" PS2 games as far as the general gaming community is concerned. Western series like The Elder Scrolls or Uncharted or Mass Effect are big enough that I'm constantly hearing about them even though I have no interest or stake in those series whatsoever.
