I have had to deal with anger issues my whole life. ...and the one thing that helped me was counseling, honestly. I know it sounds stupid, but I learned some valuable lessons. Of course, it helps when you have a good counselor and not some jackass that's just going off of a book.
What I learned: You have to realize that you control your thoughts - they don't control you. ...so when you get mad, you have to change the way you're thinking. My counselor told me to scream "stop it!" in my head. ...or if that didn't work, to find a room or some space that isn't occupied and scream it out loud. I got to a point where I was just saying "stop it, stop it, stop it..." over and over in my head till my anger went away. Of course, you have to replace that anger with good thoughts, so think of something positive to replace those thoughts with.
Also, breathing techniques help. Make a conscious effort to think about your breathing. Take slow deep breaths using your diaphragm. When you inhale, your chest shouldn't puff out, your belly should. When you exhale it should go back in. This is the proper way to breath. ...so many people breath the wrong way, and they don't even know it. Do this for a minute or two.
Other than that, my own advice would be to find some new friends and learn to just let go of things. I know it's hard - I still have problems with it. ...but at least you know you have a problem, and that's a good start.
Good luck.
