There are many horrible laws in the Middle East, but if someone from another country goes there and gets busted for it, it's still a proper application of the law. The sentence is still just under that law, even though the law itself is horrible. Except it isn't because they charged him for trafficking with no evidence of it. Except enough evidence to get it to stick.
