It used to be that your death scenes featured a blood splatter or fully blood red. Now they just have a white screen. I can't recall sound effects from the original game, but I also wonder if they made the fatal blow on you sound less visceral. I once did a ranking of my Top 100 game moments back in like 2011 or 2012, and the sub and axe endings both made my list. I wish that I could experience the sub ending for the first time again. It would definitely still make my list if I did an updated set today. Something that I have noticed that is really cool about the remasters is that characters aren't just still images, they actually move around some.
