I respect that version a lot for actually getting the original voice actors of Arthur Dent and Zaphod to play their characters from the original radio show.

I respect it less for recasting Ford and Trillian with worse alternatives, though.



My biggest pet peeve with that version hands down is the Vogon ship cargo bay scene. When Ford lights the match to see better, there's a solid 3 or 4 seconds where a pin spot is clearly aimed at the back of Ford's head. I used to do stage lighting and theater tech and I don't know what irks me more about that scene...Ford missing his mark by 2 feet, the pin spot operator that just said "fuck it" and didn't give a single fuck that the spot was obviously on the back of his head, or the BBC for doing a one take and obviously doing that entire sequence with interns.

Even the most forgettable Monty Python skits had better treatment than that.
