I try to avoid dumb partisan memes, but think of one of the memes you don't find funny that you also believe is based in falsehood, like the ones you call astroturfed. Now can you see that from the opposing perspective, your "good, truthful memes" look like that? I'm not saying the truth is subjective, I'm saying that something subjective like humor and something muddled like partisan claims about the facts are a shaky ground on which to build an assertion about what ideas propagate.
