But the multiplayer is apparently pointless. Pvp is 1v1 only and assures the initiator is the loser. Co op is pointless because of how easy the game is, and you give up half your loot by bringing someone else along with you.

Most gamers are not going to know any of this going into it.

They just see that it is Fallout and Online and buy it.

Believe me, I really hope they don't but I've lost all hope with the average gamer.

nah, lose hope in Bethesda, not the gamers. TES online didnt look like a success either until they went free 2 play. And what else could have made them to go free 2 play?
Bethesda is out of touch with fans. They try too hard to innovate beyond their games and try too hard to reach new markets at the expense of their existing fanbase.
Also they're still stuck with perhaps the most overdated s****tiest game engine ever. Like literally, the only thing they have going from their success is by brand name alone. But that can't last for long either.

TES: O isn't a Bethesda game, it's made by Zenimax. It wasn't a success at launch because of the lack of a sense of adventure and purpose, the divisive alliance structure, and the massive amounts of glitches and hackers (hackers were EVERYWHERE). They fixed a fair amount of it before it dropped the subscription (it has never been a free-to-play title).

What we have now with TES: O is actually a really strong title that, in my opinion, kind of rivals what Bethesda put out with Skyrim :\
