In terms of realism, I've struggled with portraits and faces since I've barely focused on drawing them, but I've been looking a lot at these 19th century artists recently. It truly was astounding, I mean look at these portraits: But then, a combination of photography coming about and a shift in subject matter caused the decline of this style.
