Squaresoft was facing bankruptcy, and Enix was not. ... There is more to it than that, but Square Enix is one of those things that I cannot discuss without becoming irrational and unhelpful (... because I cannot stand Tetsuya Nomura and what the Square half of the company has become during his tenure). It is telling that the Enix side remains more or less unchanged, setting aside the absolute creative failure that Star Ocean has become.
