In the epic of Gilgamesh, Gilgamesh wants to achieve immortality, so he seeks out the only man known to have become immortal. a man named Unapishtim and asks him his secret.

Unapishtim explains that when he was young, the gods decided to flood the world in order to wipe out mankind, but one of the gods told him and he built a boat in order to survive. after he had survived the calamity the gods didn't know what to do with him, so they made him immortal and told him to live somewhere out of the way. In other words, him becoming immortal was a one-off solution to a one-off problem.

now you might think that story is familiar, and that's because it is. The bible ripped it off in its entirety. instead of Noahs arc it should be Unapishtim's Arc
