I haven't beaten RDR2 yet, but the story is pretty lackluster. The characters were forgettable, the missions added nothing, and the whole 'twilight of the outlaw' storyline is basically a rehash of the first game, except it's even less justifiable here since it's a prequel. TLoU isn't really my sort of game, though, so I never played it and can't really compare.

What a partypooper.

I'm not saying it's a bad game, I'm just saying that story is not its strength.

What chapter are you in? I think the characters are really good, especially Arthur, and Dutch maintains to be an intriguing character right to the end.

The story is simple, but well executed. It's a great story of redemption, loyalty, disillusionment and family.

Chapter 3, IIRC. Dutch is pretty much the standard anti-hero mentor, Arthur is a brick dressed up like Clint Eastwood, Micah (I couldn't even remember his name) might as well be spinning his evil mustache, etc. Like I said, it's not that it's a particularly bad story, just really bland, and they already did the same story before. I'm probably a bit biased, though, because I hate prequels, but I just don't feel any of the characters are particularly interesting or memorable.

On one hand, I think 3-4 is the game's peak in every department, on the other the game's narrative definitely reaches a sort of turning point by the end of 4. Keep at it.
