but we can all do things to live closer to work

Not if you have a significant other who works nowhere near where you do. Either way, one of us is gonna have to live beyond bicycling distance

You and everyone else here love coming up with excuses for how car centric America is relative to anywhere else. That still means one partner can be without a car commute

A country where people willingly go for an hour and a half commute to get a cheap house in the suburbs for their job in the city is not the norm. It's America

Yes I've had jobs straight up deny me employment based on me not having a vehicle. Guess they had too many people claim to have a reliable ride to end up constantly calling out with a I don't have a ride excuse.

Hell some jobs Ive applied for even straight up want your driver's license number and I mean jobs where driving wasn't part of the description.

Congrats this is because of the narrative from US auto that every home needs a car. Things have been structured around that for the last 50+years. That's part of what was discussed in the episode. It became a self fulfilling situation. It doesn't have to stay that way

We dont need houses either. Why dont we just live in tents?!

Only an American would compare a vehicle to shelter
