Dogs wouldn't need to, because they have people to pick up after them.

Preventing it from rolling away means the wombats probably have a useful reason to keep to poop where it is (like keeping away other wombats or predators, or attracting food like detritivores). There are some animals that line their burrows with their own poop so other animals know that the burrow is inhabited.

We are so primitive, just pooping and moving on with our lives.
