In my continuing quest to clear out my backlog, I finished a few more things from last season. Quick thoughts:

My Hero Academia S3 had a few super-great moments, and I enjoyed seeing the characters interact with all their fun powers being set against each other. With that said, there were a few stretches that I was bored with, which hadn't happened at any earlier point in the series. Part of me wonders if it was because I watched this while it aired instead of binging it like the earlier seasons. I just had trouble getting as invested in what was happening. Despite all of its epic moments, this season also made me realize I didn't love MHA as much as I thought I did. After S2 I ranked it in my top ten, but when I had to make room in there for Revue Starlight this was the least painful anime in my top ten to remove. It's still really good, S3 just felt like it was missing that magic spark the earlier seasons had, I guess.

Cells at Work was a fun anime, and I enjoyed Red Blood Cell's adventures in the body. The anime peaked in the first episode, though, and it all felt like more of the same from there. Quite a few episodes also leaned too hard into the education half of edutainment, for my tastes. I preferred it when the events of the body were cloaked more heavily in symbolism (not sure if that's even the right word but I'm tired, I mean stuff like snow falling when the body is cold and they don't necessarily need to spell it out) rather than straight representations (let's stop the action to explain what a parasite is. Now let's stop the action again to explain the damage the parasite is doing. Here's the cell that defeats parasites... ugh I'm bored, just have it melt something and the cell stab it, I'll fill in the blanks on my own). Still a solid watch, just not as amazing as I thought it would be after the first episode.

Overlord S3 was easily the weakest season of the series. The whole thing felt so lazy, and I'm not just talking about the terrible CGI. There were several events that should have been super impactful, but instead almost all of them fell flat for me. I mean, it was still Overlord so it wasn't terrible. I just hope, if it gets a fourth season, that they have a slightly larger budget and put a bit more thought into presenting little details in order to form a better whole. This felt like they hit all the big moments from the source material but missed all the minor aspects that would've given them real meaning.

I realized while writing this that I sound super down on all of these, which is odd because I ranked them all above average! I just had higher hopes for all of them, I guess, so I couldn't help but talk about how they let me down. Ah well.
