Even when I buy games I don't plan to play for a long time (it happens...got like 12-15 early this year and I still have 5 of them left to play), I ALWAYS open the game when I get home and pop it in, to make sure the game will load and has no immediate issues, before the mfg. warranty expires on it. I don't buy games to put them on a display shelf. I buy games to play games. Everyone (aside from you, apparently) buys games to play them. That seems silly. I've never opened games just to test them. If I can't get around to it, they stay shrinkwrapped in case I do someday get rid of them instead of playing them. Rule of Rose, for instance, has gone up in price since I bought it. Honestly, I might just sell the damn thing instead of ever playing it.
