I think most folks start green and then move onto more complicated decks

I don't know a single person in my circle of friends who play who started Green. A number of people started with White weenie horde decks, a couple others went with Black for undead and regeneration effects with minor direct damage, and a couple went Red and just blasted everything. And then there were the slightly more complicated decks by people who did their research before they started playing, and who came out of the gate playing combo decks - like my one friend who played Black/White hand denial or another who played Black/Red land destruction.

My first ever deck was White/Black Pestilence and pingers, and I used to call it the White Plague deck.

I can only remember two people who used Green at all - one played White/Green revolving around White flyers like the Serra Angels and using Green for life regain and buffing, while the other played Red/Green for a while and played it as a more spell-heavy deck (and the first time I played against them they killed me with a Channel/Fireball combo).
