But also, guys like Pence are legit hateful vs LGBT. Even if he weren't in government, there's a difference between Hart's "lulz dun be gay, son!" jokes vs Pence's "I want to give electroshocks to them all and try to electrocute the gay out of them, BTW they're all going to hell".
"I'd beat my son up if I caught him being gay" is hardly much better. ---
