Some of my participation here comes from replays, but the ones I enjoy the most are when games from my stupidly-massive backlog show up. I think from this past year I cleared the following games from my backlog specifically because of this project: Beyond Good and Evil, Telltale Batman Season 1, Firewatch, and Banjo-Kazooie. They were all games I wanted to play, but it gave me the incentive to get off my butt and play them. I'm also admittedly awful at discussion, I am a lurker at heart. But I try to always contribute my thoughts at the very least when I've got a game here I'm playing. Like you said, this project without discussion is no different than using RNG to pick a game to play on your own.
