I still hear people say that to this day. Oh God, I vividly remember actually telling one of my younger friends that when I was like 10 (I had heard it from my mom). Makes me cringe to this day. Didn't it start because people were eating monkeys? They think so, yes, like @ImTheMacheteGuy said in post #79. I think it was a vice documentary where I saw it. It didn't specifically say that this was the original source of the disease in humans, but it focused on how it is still spread in Africa today by this and there are doctors that go around with hunters and actually test the bush meat in the field to determine if it is safe to eat as a humanitarian cause. I deduced from it that this was likely how people first contracted aids, but I don't know that it is verified.
