I guess it was all about Spider man and Xmen before the movies It kind of was. Back when Marvel was facing bankruptcy, they sold the movie rights to their characters to avoid bankruptcy. Spider-Man was sold to Sony and Fantastic Four and X-Men were sold to Fox. Nobody wanted the Avengers though because they weren't considered as popular. Heck, New Line Cinema bought the Blade movie rights. Get that. The Blade movie rights were sold, but the Avengers were not sold.
