Arguably, that's even more reason to be precise about terminology when you're discussing actual science concepts (as opposed to regular, everyday life and general layman stuff).

Laziness when it comes to describing concepts is at least part of why stupid people believe so many stupid things. At least half the problems when people argue over stuff like climate change is because we lack universal operational definitions, leading to ridiculous amounts of confusion and flawed thinking.
