See, heres the thing: Hawaii is expensive af. Since prices are so high, places cant afford to pay high wages. $5 footlongs at Subway were $6, and the prices only increased. Those $5 fill ups at KFC are $8. Gas is usually near $4.
People have to realize that theyre going to have to either make sacrifices or work harder if they want to live here. There are plenty of places where jobs like that can easily be enough, but theyre not as nice as Hawaii. So when people want the beauty of Hawaii without the cost, it gives off an air of entitlement.
people should have food and shelter regardless of where they live
I'm still waiting for my response to his cheap mainland american paradise where I can make minimum wage and live comfortably by myself.
Sorry, but human beings need this thing known as "sleep". And I never said people can or should live off minimum wage, because IMO, they shouldn't. Minimum wage is just that; minimum. It's not called livable wage.
But like I said, why do you have to live by yourself? If you are making only minimum, you shouldn't expect the luxury of having a place all to yourself.
However, here are some places where those workers could've lived by themselves:
Alabama Detroit Mississippi Tennessee Ohio Texas Georgia Indiana Louisiana Iowa North Carolina Milwaukee Oklahoma Missouri Cincinatti
All these states have places where the cost of living is under $40K, well under the $50K that those workers were already making before the strike. If they had just avoided the most expensive state in the nation and done a little research, they would be able to live comfortably on their current salary.
what I'm getting from this is that you want Hawaii, and all major cities, to be playgrounds for the wealthy ---
