Seriously, tell me why anyone, regardless of age, should be given that much money for such a menial task. Since you know, it's the same job, whether it's performed by a 16-year-old, or a 60-year-old.

The answer changes with age. Most teens can still rely on their parents for shelter and generally don't have as much responsibilities as adults.
Adults should, however, have enough income without having to work at several different places despite their experience level of they work. These people are not slaves and shouldn't be treated as such especially given how if hotel workers stopped what they were doing the hotel would shut down.
