did people hate the live action movie? Scarlet Johansen is pretty damn white tbh. I personally thought it good in terms of action and visuals but her character was a bit boring and the story was just meh and kinda predictable.

That was the dumbest complaint. of course it would be Scarlet, she is the biggest female box office draw, especially action move wise alive. There is no Asian actress even close, and this isn't star wars that has mainstream recognition where you can cast unknowns in huge roles. Also, she was playing a Robot...

I would say a better example was Death Note, where they purposely didn't cast asians which was really weird. The only issue with that is people complained about white washing, but you also had black people playing Asian characters which was ignored. Just be consistent.

Hmm, I actually have that on my Netflix to watch list, but it reminds me of the live action full metal alchemist, because I heard that people bitched about the main character being played by an Asian actor while the anime character was supposed to be white. If the same people are complaining in both cases, fair enough, complainers gonna complain. If people are complaining about one but not the other... well that's just fucking misguided and stupid.

"Waaaahhh white actor playing Asian anime character = D:" but "Asian actor playing white anime character = cool beans and totally not waaah"

That would be bullshit also if vice versa. Both are fair or neither is fair.
