I understand the reasons for WW2. It was largely because of bitterness, feelings of resentment and oppression, etc.

Also, you made reference to the "contempt" the German people had for the rest of the world, in the 1930s. You don't think we had contempt for them in the last 1940s? They had waged war on a bunch of countries, killing many people in warfare, and killed millions of Jews and other people they deemed "undesirable" in concentration camps - and worst of all, at the Nuremberg Trials, most of them were unrepentant!

It's amazing that a country could exist like that, in the 20th century. And there's still a German arrogance in this topic...like they're better than the rest of us. That hasn't gone away too much, at least, judging from what someone said a while ago.
