In what has become an annual tradition for me on Christmas, I like to write a note of appreciation to Board 8 after breakfast every year, showing appreciation to many of you for playing a part in my continued love of this place. It's not often that we all say kind things towards one another that aren't dripping with at least a little sarcasm. I know that oftentimes I play right into that same cynical, detached hand of gruff distance that plagues the board. But I yearn, at least once a year, to say something meaningful and positive about this place that so many of us have come to for many years. So, not in order of importance, scattered and inarticulately presented, here are some Christmas thank yous.

To Gauntlet Crew, as always, thank you. Whether we're arguing about sex scenes in the Terminator or discussing the merits of nominations for Save Mys, you are a consistent group of individuals who don't hide agendas or push selfish angles. Charon and Karo especially for hosting lists in this calendar year, thank you. I never get enough of the film ranking experience with the group, and you both did excellent jobs curating your lists. Stifled, for allowing me to be an honorary Bear Bro this year. Inviso, I feel like I let myself down by not doing more with you this year. We'll have to get back to the saga of Teacher Cha or someone else soon. KBM, I'm so glad to see you back around the group, and it was excellent to see your thoughts and share in conversation with you on the Sci Fi List. It's too bad that Poke didn't participate on that list, and I hope you get a little more engaged soon, buddy. Wickle and Ermine, you two have been excellent partners in my journey through Umineko and our various fakakta video game adventures. You both are consistently funny, engaging, entertaining, and I can't wait to continue the fun in 2019. Snake, you and I didn't engage as much this year, but you're a fantastic guy and one of my favorite users on the Board. I'm also itching to work on something with you. Maybe 2019. There's also everyone else who worked on lists this year: Genny, red, Johnbobb. And last but not least, JONA. I set my weekly calendar by our wrestling excursions. I have so many fond memories of the nearly infinite list of inside jokes we've developed for every worker. But more importantly, I just enjoy sharing the time watching wrestling with you. I doubt I would enjoy any of the shows we watch a quarter of as much without your commentary, your brilliant sharp wit. And when I'm having a stressful week, oftentimes, it's those simple couple hours of bad WWE programming that make things a little more bearable, so I thank you.

There's another group I have to thank - the small but loyal group of the Board 8 Comic Book Club. MI, davidponte, HDT, and Karo are the only remaining members at this time, but hopefully we'll grow back to the numbers with which we started in the fall. The small group of you are still excellent conversation and I love that you look at the stories without an over-critical eye; you all really seem to get a great joy from reading comics, and it sort of reignites my passion for reading by proxy.

To those of you who post in the APWT, thanks. Almost everyone and their "bizarre" opinions are always enjoyable for me to read and use to digest my own opinions and define them more eloquently. And there are users like voltch, NBIceman and Steiner who introduce me or continue to prompt me to keep my horizons expanded outside of simply the US scene. I'm greatly appreciative to Steiner for getting me aboard the PROGRESS train this year. There are too many users in APWT to list, from Jakyl to Rock, but all of you are welcome in my book.

There are surely others I'm forgetting this year. This board is chock full of fantastic people with unique voices. It's the best aspect of this place, the melding of so many ideas in one place. I adore it. And if you can't say it at Christmas, when else can you say it? I love you, Board 8.
