'idol' ended up growing on me, too. it's a fun song.

agreed about the blackpink album. YG groups are generally better the further they are from the yolosweg that is their brand. been a while since i've listened to 'square up' but i think the most dire for me was the "i gotta know that you're for reealll' section in 'really'? that said the synth hook in 'ddu-du ddu-du' is so good that it ended up on the longlist anyway.

worst songs is tough. there's probably worse stuff i had no expectation for and promptly forgot and low budget stuff i ignored, but without thinking about it too hard:

5. Wanna One - Boomerang
anyone could have guessed that wanna one was going to be a low effort cash grab, but 'energetic' gave me hope, damn it.

4. S.I.S - Say Yes
they had a really good song last year, one where there voices weren't overproduced to the point where they all sound the same.

3. Weki Meki - La La La
i almost forgot this was this year. it's like their debut song, but i don't think it's even a guilty pleasure for anyone like that one was. they made good with 'crush' at least.

2. Stray Kids - N/S
i'm sorry stray kids, i hate this and skip it every time, but they looked like they were having fun in the video they filmed for it at least.

1. Winner - Everyday
see above about YG and yolosweg. fuck all the autotune, and this chorus. winner went trendy last year too, but still had some good songs. they were my favourite YG group at debut, because they were like a ballad group that accidentally debuted under YG, and took on just the right amount of the brand.
