The bastardized quote is a reference to a specific event. The event didn't not happen just because he didn't post an article to it. If you're gonna pretend like it didn't happen then you were never open to seeing how he thought Trump was racist in the first place. I know he's specifically trying to use the Charlottesville situation. Trump never said nazis are fine people. That's the bastardization I'm talking about.
