His parents were out for the evening and left the boys home alone as investigators said the boys were wrestling at 7pm to see if the family dog would react to the 11 y/o being attacked. That's when Carter picked up the pistol and removed the magazine but left a single round chambered. The gun discharged when he pointed it at Vaughn.
