Rascal + Bunny Girl beated. Pretty good show! It's interesting comparing this to Monogatari. It feels heavily inspired by that, with both the relationships and the arc formats and the style etc. But it's pretty different too. On the one hand, it doesn't have the style and dialogue flair that Monogatari does. It feels more like a typical series that's imitating certain aspects. But it still does all that quite well? It doesn't come close to the high points that, say, Bakemonogatari does, but it feels more consistent, and more sincere in a way. I was pretty impressed, and definitely want to see more.

Sakuta was a great protagonist. Worked well within the series, and had good development through. Mai's quite good as the love interest, and probably the best female character in the show, but she suffers somewhat more from the Monogatari comparison than the rest of the cast does (she's basically a less good Senjougahara. Having much worse voice acting holds her back). The relationship between her and Sakuta is quite nice, though it feels like it's progressing slower than it should be. Kunimi and his girlfriend are great as minor characters. Rio is mostly awesome as the friend character, with a fairly interesting arc (though the body stuff and the pictures felt like an irrelevant interlude that vanished quickly and had no impact, and probably shouldn't have existed). Kaede's ultra moe, and gets some good development. Tomoe can make Sakuta do fun stuff, but she's not interesting in her own right. Nodoka's arc was all good, though that was partly because it was so Mai-focused. Overall, I'd say the cast is generally less interesting and more shallow than the Monogatari people, but the straightforwardness is entertaining in its own way.

Arc-wise, I think I'd say Kaede > Mai > Nodoka > Rio > Tomoe? All of them are pretty close other than Tomoe's though. I do wish that Kaede's had been longer - I saw some people complaining about the fast pacing, but I think it works very well for the most part. Kaede's feels like we could have used more scenes with Kaede at the end though. Great stuff in general. Looking forward to the movie.

Fall anime ranks:

1. Bunny Girl
2. Uzamaid
3. Bloom into You
4. Gridman
5. Vampire Next Door
6. Skullfaced Bookseller Honda
7. Zombieland Saga

Currently watching Goblin Slayer, and gonna check out Irozuku after that, along with Girl in the Twilight. Any other Fall shows worth watching?
