Plenty of them have lots of romantic teasing, but we don't get any romance. For something you've seen, Yuru Yuri for example has plenty of characters with potential for romance, but instead we just get lots of teasing and the attraction is basically always used as a joke. I think a lot of Japanese writers fail to realize that you can get plenty of entertainment out of romances that develop and characters who become couples, too (even serious romance series have a problem where they often end when the couple gets together). Couples can be funny, and they can provide interesting drama. Personally, I highly enjoy it when the main couple actually gets together, and I find it frustrating when shows would rather just tease it for the length of the show's existence. It's gotten to the point that even someone acknowledging their feelings for another character can be enough to satisfy me...

haha yeah I agree with all of this. that's probably why I don't read as much romance stuff as I used to anymore. it just got tiring that EVERYTHING had a pretty unsatisfying ending, and things with a good resolution were pretty legendary rare exceptions.

But I think that'd be appealing to a more niche market and a lot of fans wouldn't be able to keep themselves in denial when watching an anime about that.

haha epic
