A lot of stuff is abbreviated, and a great deal of the character development is stripped out. Honestly, it really should be a few spots lower here, I think, but it has one special thing that makes it stand out. The beginning arc is very good, just as it was in the manga. Again, its abbreviated a bit, but its still presented well. The characters are good, and the animation is great for the whole thing. I definitely appreciate the way they did the sign language. Unfortunately, some of the middle parts of the movie are a bit meandering in a way, since theyre stripped of a bit of the meaning the manga gave them. Mainly, I just really love the ending. Something about the way it was presented was incredibly emotional. I cried a lot when I watched it. It was an incredibly beautiful scene, and while Im not sure it makes the most sense for the movie to end there from a plot perspective, it definitely gives it way more impact.
