While Chun had her fans, Mai was actually more popular for quite a while, for two big, jiggly reasons. His quirky mannerisms and movements make him argubly more popular than Mario among fans. Luigi's design is praised too even though it is similiar to Mario's. His origins are shown in C&C Red Alert; a prequel. He reappears in multiple sequels, still shown as the leader of Nod 50+ years later. Yet Kane looks the same every time. He is not just an antagonist either; he works with world governments when it suits his needs. Kane is one of the most iconic schemers in gaming, and a praised villain.
