Sorry if I offended anyone is "you shouldn't have been offended" and is garbage in all circumstances. Just "sorry" implies that you were wrong outright, which isn't always the case and is often less sincere than the first option. Apologies shouldn't always necessarily be about making the offensive party bend the knee though. I'm not sure exactly what the guy said but yeah. --- No problem!
