9. Granblue Fantasy - New World Order (8.5) (for/over Full Base)

vs.

18. Deltarune - Chaos King (7.5) (over Scene Shifts There, The Red Locus)

New World Order would probably be a 9 or even 9.5 if the vocals were different. Particularly when they first appear, they're...really not great. When the singers sing together it's much better, but those separate verses are really bad, and it's enough to drop the song considerably for me (I initially voted Full Base before a subsequent relisten caused New World Order to grow on me). But by the time of the chorus, it's all good and really solid, just a great listen. Shame about the beginning. Chaos King is also really cool. Unlike a lot of the other comments throughout the contest, the deep chiptune intro is my favorite part. I also like a lot of the grungy "evil" "unclean" aspects. It's a shame Chaos King had to run into NWO, as I'd vote for it over both songs in the second match (this has been happening a lot!).

31. Gokinjo Boukentai - Battle (6.5) (over A. Rene)

vs.

52. Etrian Odyssey V - The End of the Raging Waves (3.5) (for The Darkness Crawling)

I don't understand the hype around Battle. It's a fun, jazzy, bouncy track, but it feels like a totally random SNES/SFC track to get behind. The End of the Raging Waves is overblown bombast and it does next to nothing for me. Easy match!
