Topic	Which Final Fantasy game would you recommend I play first: FF7 or FF9?

But then again, the whole game has a very calm pace to it... even the villains aren't particularly swift in their actions (but certainly make up for it with impact) edit: actually, that's probably what they were going for - even the overworld theme has a very calm sleepytime feel to it, like it's trying to capture a feeling of being all wrapped up in front of a fire drinking cocoa --- "Salt cures Everything!"
