Multiple people in this topic have trouble saying the word.

where? can you cite even a single person saying that they have trouble rolling an r into a y?

or if you're referring to people saying rye-you, then they're doing so due to ignorance of the name's actual pronunciation or habit, not cause of any actual linguistic difficulties on their parts

I have also met many English speakers in real life that cannot say it (including famous fighting game players).

who

the

fuck

cares

like with bringing up having japanese coworkers, this is irrelevant

And you are acting like they should all feel bad or whatever because it's actually super easy to pronounce despite it not being in their language.

it actually is easy, but where am i acting like they should feel bad?

i mean, i'm trying to make you feel bad for making stupid/bullshit points, but not others

It's not easy to pronounce for English speakers. No Japanese teachers think that. They spend time having students practice that pronunciation because it is hard. I used to tutor people learning Japanese and it was a difficult sound for many of them to learn.

a super, 100% authentic japanese r can be hard to accurately, 100% replicate and pronounce like a native

rolling an r into a y isn't

(and again - bringing up how you used to tutor = irrelevant)

You think very highly of yourself and think anyone that can't pronounce these things sucks at language. That's not how language works. If sounds aren't present in your native language you struggle to pronounce them without practice. That's basic science. The majority of English speakers cannot pronounce Ryu without practice or exposure to a language with the sound in it.

what part of "phonetically possible" do you not get

again, like with my spanish example, it doesn't exist in english

yet, as a non-spanish speaker, i can somehow... replicate the sound?!
