Very rarely do you say the whole thing. Lot of game series get similar contractions. Like Dragon Quest is . But yes I agree the English version should be treated as its own thing. Like karaoke obviously it's accepted to be pronounced the American way. Or if you want an even more extreme example tsunami. If you said it the Japanese way people would look at you weird. But I think things like Ryu are similar. People are going to say rye-you or ree-you and it's whatever. Getting super bent out of shape just isn't worth it. I don't even consider most of the English words in Japanese to be English. They often have different nuances and the pronunciation is obviously different much of the time.
