Try tying a Four-In-Hand. I figured that one out on my own but for the life of me I can't do a Half-Windsor even with diagrams.

You drape the tie around your neck with the thick end hanging lower than the thin end. You cross the thick end in front of the thin, wrap it around the back, then again around the front of the thin end, making a loop. Then you pull the thick end up through the neck, then down through the loop you just made. Tighten the knot and adjust it and you're done.
