There's a lot more characters with a lot more interesting arcs in the MCU, and we see a lot of them come to fruition in Endgame. Not to mention the movies adapt characters that have been around for over half a century. Avatar had cultural impact when it was released and a couple years after, but it had no staying power. Comic book movies stay with people not because the movies were always great (Batman Forever for example) but because the characters in them are timeless. No, I didn't know who the Guardians of the Galaxy were before the movies, but I sure as hell do now, and the same goes for a lot of other characters in the movies.
